Albuquerque International Sunport (ABQ) employee badge is a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) required identification credential that carries personal responsibility and is used to access your work area at the AIS.
Please contact your company authorized signatory prior to starting the Airport Security ID Card application process. An authorized signatory is the designated representative of a company authorized to sponsor individuals and request Airport Security ID Cards. Authorized signatories are familiar with the requirements to obtain an Airport Security ID Card and should be your primary point of contact for all Airport Security ID Card needs.
Before starting the application process, please review the Transport Security Administration’s list of disqualifying crimes. You will be ineligible for an Airport Security ID Card if you have been convicted of any of these crimes in the last 10 years.
Disqualifying Crimes
An individual has a disqualifying criminal offense under TSA regulations if the individual has been convicted, plead guilty, or found not guilty by reason of insanity to an offense of any of the disqualifying crimes listed in this paragraph below in any jurisdiction during the last 10 years before the date of the individual’s application for unescorted access authority, or while the individual has unescorted access authority. The disqualifying criminal offenses are listed below. If you have been convicted, pleaded guilty, pleaded no contest (nolo contendere), or were found not guilty by reason of insanity to an offense for any offense listed below, please check the appropriate response and provide details if necessary.
Forgery of certificates, false marking of aircraft, and other aircraft registration violation
Interference with air navigation
Improper transportation of a hazardous material
Aircraft piracy
Interference with flight crewmembers or flight attendants
Commission of certain crimes aboard aircraft in flight
Carrying a weapon or explosive aboard aircraft
Conveying false information and threats
Aircraft piracy outside of the special aircraft jurisdiction of the United States
Lighting violations involving transporting controlled substances
Unlawful entry into an aircraft or airport area that serves air carriers or foreign air carriers contrary to established security requirements
Destruction of an aircraft or aircraft facility
Murder
Assault with intent to murder
Espionage
Sedition
Kidnapping or hostage taking
Treason
Rape or aggravated sexual abuse
Unlawful possession, use, sale, distribution, or manufacture of an explosive or weapon
Extortion
Armed or felony unarmed robbery
Distribution of, or intent to distribute, a controlled substance
Felony arson
Felony involving a threat
* willful destruction of property
* importation or manufacture of a controlled substance
* burglary
* theft
* dishonesty, fraud, or misrepresentation
* possession distribution of stolen property
* aggravated assault
* bribery
* illegal possession of controlled substance punishable by a maximum term or imprisonment of more than 1 year
Violence at international airports
Conspiracy or attempt to commit any of the criminal acts listed in this section
Any other crime classified as a felony that the Administrator determines indicates a propensity for placing contraband aboard an aircraft in return for money; violence at international airports; conspiracy or attempt to commit any of the criminal acts listed in 49 CFR and 1542.209(d) or 49 CFR and 1544.299(d)
Please start your badge application or renewal process as early as possible as it may take four (4) to six (6) weeks for the process to be completed.
Below is important information in order to obtain a badge.
* Badge application (signed by the applicant and the employer’s authorized signatory/signatories)
When visiting the Badging Office, individuals must present 2 (two) forms of identification from Form I-9 Acceptable Documents. One document must show your identity, and another document must provide your authorization to work in the United States, none of which can be digital or photocopies. In addition, if ramp driving or Employee Parking is requested, a valid Driver’s License must be provided, as an ID will not be accepted, nor can the Driver’s License require a fully licensed driver to accompany a learner’s permit.
* Names on the documents must match the name on the fingerprinting and badging application. If names do not match, all legal documents containing name changes are required.
Step 1: Fingerprinting
• Your company Authorized Signatory must submit a new badge request electronically via the authorized signatory portal.
• Your Authorized Signatory will review your Acceptable Form I-9 Documents you plan to present to the Airport Security Office at your Fingerprinting Appointment.
• After your company has created your new badge request, you may schedule an appointment for Fingerprinting.
• You must bring 2 documents from the Acceptable Form I-9 Documents list, one providing identity and one providing work authorization, none of which can be digital or photocopies.
• You will not test or receive your Airport ID Badge at your Fingerprinting Appointment.
• You should plan at least one hour for this appointment.
Step 2: Training and Testing
• After your background checks are completed, your company Authorized Signatory will notify you, usually within a week, but may be longer.
• Once notified, you may schedule an appointment for training and testing.
• You must bring 2 documents from the Acceptable Form I-9 Documents list, one providing identity and one providing work authorization, none of which can be digital or photocopies.
