Sunport Wins Award for Newsletter in International Competition

Dec 28, 2020

The Albuquerque International Sunport received the award for best newsletter in Airports Council International-North America’s (ACI-NA) 2020 Excellence in Airport Marketing, Communications and Customer Experience Awards. Winners were announced on Thursday during a virtual ceremony. The Sunport took the award over a prestigious list of other finalist airports, San Francisco International Airport, Oakland International Airport and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. The Sunport was also part of the winning group in the Best in Airport Partnerships category, for their involvement in the JetStream Music Fest, which took place this past May.

“We are honored by this recognition and so proud of the team that produces Sunport News,” said Nyika Allen, Director of Aviation for the City of Albuquerque. “The Sunport staff and our partners represent our own community and we believe the entire airport performs better when we maintain regular internal communication. With that purpose in mind, this newsletter is a great example of how we keep our stakeholders informed of the happenings around the Sunport.”

Sunport News is a monthly e-newsletter, distributed to staff and partners of the Sunport, and has been running for over two years. It provides relevant news that affects the Aviation Industry, updates on Sunport projects, announcements, entertainment-based content and several recurring segments. Since March, it has also been utilized to provide critical information and updates on the Covid-19 Pandemic and the corresponding impacts to operations.

The Excellence in Airport Marketing, Communications and Customer Experience Awards are the most sought-after for marketing and communications professionals in the Aviation Industry. ACI-NA’s press release can be seen here.
